The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) has embarked on an initiative designed to educate, raise public awareness and establish strategic programmes to foster innovative and beneficial use of ICT in Caribbean countries for national and regional development. The initiative, the Caribbean ICT Roadshow, integrates ICT capacity building with meaningful activities which will deliver tangible benefits to the citizens of the region and lay a foundation on which knowledge-based societies and economies may be built.
The Roadshow takes the form of a series of country visits across the region with an agenda of activities designed to foster a spirit of innovation in the development of ICT‐based practical solutions for the challenges faced in Caribbean countries.
The Caribbean ICT Roadshow was officially launched in July 2009 in Grenada. From August 2009 to June 2010, the Roadshow visited the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Curacao, the Republic of Suriname, Montserrat, the British Virgin Islands and St. Lucia.
The CTU works collaboratively with its members, partners and other interested organisations and institutions to deliver a programme designed to educate and demonstrate the transformative power of ICT innovation. The theme, Harnessing the Power of Innovation ‐ the engine for ICT‐enabled Caribbean development, is reflective of the objectives the Roadshow has achieved.
The Roadshow will culminate in Trinidad and Tobago in November 2010 with an ICT Symposium at which a comprehensive report highlighting recommendations for fostering ICT innovation and development will be presented and ICT innovators will be recognised.
The information in this section of our website has been prepared by the CTU to guide each host country in the planning and execution of the activities related to the Caribbean ICT Roadshow. T
The CTU will be working in partnership with members and other stakeholders in respective Caribbean countries to customize the event to meet the priority needs of the host country.
Select sessions may be video recorded for re‐broadcast in other countries where the event will be held.
